A place to return
to the essential

La Selva is the name of our village, in the Central Andean Range of Valle del Cauca. It stands for a philosophy: bringing ancestral knowledge, rhythm and connection with the land into a natural way of living.

The land

Land that nourishes

Highly fertile land, able to grow a wide variety of food. Direct views of the valley and the Western Range. Abundant fruit and coffee.

Higher up, towards the páramo, there are lagoons and spectacled bears — the area is known as the páramo de las Hermosas.

Temperate climate: warm by day, cool at night. This region was known as the pantry of the Valle for its abundance of food.

Ginebra is a calm, well-organised town of abundance.

Shared spaces

Gym

Functional training and calisthenics space, equipped to train the body in the open air.

Kitchen

A fully equipped communal kitchen where the day’s meals are prepared.

Dining room

Where food is shared, the meeting point of the community.

Children’s area

A space for children, so the little ones also enjoy this way of life.

Dry toilets

Composting dry toilets, part of the land’s cycle and using no water.

Steam bath

Steam bath with medicinal herbs from the place, to relax the body after training.

Gardens

Crops grown on the farm, part of daily meals and of the connection with the land that defines this place.

We work in the garden constantly, taking steps towards our dream of food sovereignty. Taking part is optional, but always welcome.
